Chaplaincy

It is through You that we find the strength
To fight the battles we face everyday
The trials of life are never ending
And it is for this that we pray

Through Your eyes we have grown
From small children to young adults
You were there every step of the way
Guiding us, helping us cope

You've allowed us to get through
All the things we have done
Loving us unconditionally
More than anyone

You teach us everything is possible
If we truly believed in Your cause
You give us the will when we have nothing else
You restore hope we once lost

When we are down and everything seems low
It is in you that we find the light
Dear God, my one true friend
Please give me the strength tonight

Wellness Week: This took place the last week in February and it was a joint effort between the Physical Education Department and Chaplaincy. Guest speakers were brought in to speak to different grade levels and different topics were discussed.

Grade 11’s walked the meditative prayer path called The Labyrinth brought to us from Timothy Eaton Memorial Church

Grade 12 and OAC students listened to visitors from the Sunnybrook PARTY program about the need for risk reduction with regard to drinking, driving and other risk-related injuries.

Our grade 7 and 8 students participated in a workshop on the media, body image and self-esteem which was organized and facilitated by Senior students

Organizations and public health nurses, police helped us with lunch time displays in the cafeteria and lobby.

Chapel

2002-2003 saw the creation of a dream come true! The chapel opened in December of 2002. Click here for Chapel pictures.

This project was led by the Visual Art Department under the guidance of Ms. Pagano. The main floor lobby now has a visible presence of our Catholic faith with the creation of a beautiful, quiet prayer space. Ms. Eckert helps the Chaplaincy Department by maintaining the prayer space.

LEADERSHIP

Students are encouraged to become involved in leadership opportunities in the school and within our community.

This year we took students to the following Board sponsored events:

Confirmation Retreat Training Program at Camp George
Student Trustee Conference
The SMILE program in conjunction the TDSB and the Metro Toronto Police
Camp Olympia Leadership program in May
TCDSB Day of Service in May

Students are also updated with events in and around the city especially events sponsored by the Office of Catholic Youth and the Ontario Catholic Federation of Student Councils

Our students are represented at the Catholic Student Leadership Impact Team at the Board level.

Leadership Course

Students have the opportunity to take Grade 12 Religion known as Christian Living and Leadership. The course explores the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, Seven Habits for Highly Effective Teens, the Bible and other resources related to Christian leadership and service. We explore aspects of leadership theoretically and then practically through Service Projects in the school and community.

Students in the Leadership course help to plan, organize and facilitate the Grade level Retreats as well as the major liturgies held throughout the year. They are responsible to help the Chaplaincy Team Leader with morning prayers and prayers services in the chapel.

Dear Lord,

for these three things we pray:

To know Thee more clearly,

To love Thee more dearly,

To follow Thee more nearly.

Every day.

Amen.
